Good Grades Incentive Policy Author: Mr. Morgan
10/19/2006 9:09:33 AM
Updated: October 18, 2006 Greenbrier Tae Kwon Do Academy is proud to acknowledge those youngsters 12 years of age and younger who have a “B” average, or above, on their 6-week ending or 9-week ending report cards. GTKDA’s incentive for having a B average will be to provide that student with a chevron of appropriate color to be ironed or sewed onto the sleeves of their uniforms. Other TKD-related patches, or other rewards, may also be given. Public or Private School Educated Children The student wishing to receive a chevron, or other reward, for their report card, MUST bring their report card to Mr. Morgan for his review. A copy of the report card can be submitted to Mr. Morgan for entry into the student’s file for future reference. But this is not mandatory. Only 6-week and 9-week ending report cards will be accepted. Home School Educated Children Home schooled children may participate in this program as well. Since no official report card is generated for home schooled children, the parent of the home schooled child must provide some sort of progress report annotating what subjects the child is currently studying, what grade level they are currently in, and their HONEST opinion of whether or not that child is making “B” average, or above, progress. The parent’s honesty in their child’s progress is vital. “F” on the Report Card Any student, whether they attend public or private schools, or if they are homeschooled, who receives an “F” on their report will not be allowed to participate in any promotional testing at GTKDA until that “F” and has been brought up to at least a “C” on the next 6-week or 9-week ending report card. It will be the responsibility of the PARENT or legal guardian of the student who receives the “F” grade on their report card to notify Mr. Morgan of this grade for promotional testing purposes. Parents naturally do not wish for their children to make any F’s at any time. So the parent’s cooperation in this policy is a must. Mid-term report cards are not permissible in this program. Participating in the incentive part of this policy is not mandatory. The “F” on the report card rule for not testing WILL be enforced by Mr. Morgan. All students and parents of students may feel free to call or email Mr. Morgan to discuss this policy at any time.

Monthly Dues & Payment of Fees Policy Author: Mr. Morgan
3/31/2003 10:55:43 AM
GTKDA Monthly Dues/Payment of Fees Policy Updated: December 28, 2005 Effective January 1, 2006 monthly dues for all Greenbrier Tae Kwon Do Academy students will be $45/month. Dues are to be paid as close to the first of the month as possible. NO refunds will be given for any and all fees paid to Greenbrier Tae Kwon Do Academy. This is to include monies associated with the following: · Monthly Dues · Purchase of training uniform · Purchase of safety equipment (sparring pads, groin protection) · Purchase of training equipment (kicking pads, miscellaneous equipment for martial arts training purposes) · Training events (seminars, tournaments that will have to be paid for prior to attending) if there is any such case No receipts will be given for monies paid to GTKDA unless one is requested by the student or parent/guardian of student. At that time a receipt will be issued. Although it is very rare, Mr. Morgan reserves the right to cancel classes at any given time for emergencies or unforeseen events. In doing so, monthly dues will not be decreased for that particular month unless the number of cancelled classes equals half of the total classes held for that month. For example, if a student is scheduled to have 10 classes in a particular month and 5 are cancelled, then monthly dues for the following month will be decreased to compensate for the cancelled classes for that prior month. All students and parents of student may feel free to call Mr. Morgan to discuss payment of any fees at any time.

Inclement or Bad Weather Policy Author: Mr. Morgan
3/31/2003 10:54:14 AM
GTKDA Inclement or Bad Weather Policy Updated: October 9, 2003 Classes at Greenbrier Tae Kwon Do Academy will not be cancelled due to inclement weather unless absolutely necessary. Excessive rain, snow, sleet, or extreme cold or heat does not necessarily mean that classes will be cancelled. GTKDA does not follow Greenbrier County public school protocol when it comes to school/class cancellations. Just because Greenbrier County public schools are closed due to inclement weather does not mean that GTKDA classes will be cancelled. If you are unable to make it to class due to bad road conditions, it is perfectly understandable. IF I must cancel classes due to inclement or bad weather I will take the following steps in order to notify all GTKDA students of such cancellations: · Send an email to all students for whom I have a valid email address · Make a telephone call to those students for whom I do NOT have an email address · Post a sign on the front door of the school notifying all others of class cancellation (providing that the road conditions allow me to make it to the school to post such a notice) All students may feel free to call Mr. Morgan prior to their appropriate class time if they have any questions regarding class cancellations.

Class Participation Policy Author: Mr. Morgan
3/31/2003 10:52:48 AM
GTKDA Class Participation Policy Updated: October 9, 2003 Although it is not mandatory for a student to participate in a specific number of classes per month in order to be eligible for rank promotion, it is HIGHLY suggested that every student participate in as many classes as possible. Many martial arts schools make it a requirement for a student to attend “x” amount of classes before becoming eligible for testing for their next belt. GTKDA does not follow that protocol. But the student must understand that the more classes they participate in, the better they will be. Mr. Morgan retains the right to decline a student’s request to test for their next belt if he feels that the student has not been coming to class on a more regular basis. All students are expected to arrive on time for their appropriate class. Any students who arrive more than 10 minutes late after the beginning of their class, without informing Mr. Morgan first, will not be allowed to participate in that particular class. Please let Mr. Morgan know if you or your child will be late for class by calling the school and leaving a message. Student participation in such events as tournaments, training seminars, special classes or events held at GTKDA, or group visits to other martial arts schools is highly encouraged. GTKDA students and instructors should feel like a family. Participating in school activities together makes for a stronger bond. All students should take advantage of all extra activities and classes that are offered in order to strengthen their knowledge of Tae Kwon Do and other Korean martial arts. All students and parents of students may feel free to contact Mr. Morgan with questions or concerns about class/event participation.
